This guide will help you complete your Research Paper: Career Report

Your Career Report should include the following:

  • What you will need to do to pursue this occupation -- education, vocational training, experience, personal qualities
  • Description: job duties and detailed information of what the job entails
  • Pay: salary at different levels of experience (from beginning to experienced), benefits (medical, vacations, retirement), opportunities to advance
  • Working conditions: possible places of employment, hours, perks, advantages, disadvantages; is this field unionized? Include the results of your interviews here.
  • Current issues affecting this occupation (e.g., automation, licensing, how the industry is changing, controversial issues, outlook for the future, regional and national prospects) This section will be more heavily weighted.

OneSearch is the the search box on the library website homepage. This is the recommended tool for finding news articles on your career as well as print and online career guidebooks.

Using Library Databases From Off Campus AKA What Is My UIA?

You can use OneSearch and any other library resources from off campus, but you will be prompted to login with your UIA

Your UIA is the login you use to access library and computer commons computers, and gets you on to the LAVC-Wireless wifi network

USERNAME: the unique portion of your LACCD.EDU email address:

PASSWORD: your 4-digit Month and Birthday (for example: January 6, would be 0106)
